0503-903 Chedition Edition Can Not Be Determined
Today I done the OS AIX backup and restore test as below steps:
1: login into HMC
Vtmenu:
Enter the Nim server and test_lpar system:
login to the Nim server
Create a location to place the backup file:
Cd / backup
Mkdir test_p
Chmod 755 test_p
2: create the NFS file system for the network connection:
In nim server:
Smit mknfsexp
2.1: First enter the backup file location path: / backup / test_p
2.2: input the test_lpar hostname in the below allow host field: " Hosts allowed root access "
Add a Directory to Exports List
Type or select values in entry fields.
Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.

3: Check the mount file system :

/ nim / mksysb (everyone)
/ backup / test_lpar2 (everyone)
/ nim / nim_source / spot / spot-aix6108 / usr test_lpar
/export/nim/scripts/test_lpar.script test_lpar
/backup/test_p (everyone)
Above the / backup / test_p is mounted.
4: In the agent: in the test_lpar server :

The mounted system is ok.
5: The next thing is going to backup the system:
mksysb -i /mnt/test_20130815.mksysb
0503-903 chedition: Edition can not be determined.
A signature file was not found in the / usr / lpp / bos / properties / version directory.
0301-168 bosboot: The current boot logical volume, / dev / hd5,
does not exist on / dev / hdisk1.
0512-008 mksysb: The mkszfile command failed. Backup canceled.
Above one error message occurred:
Solution:
root @ test_lpar / # pprootdev fix
bosboot: Boot image is 57372 512 byte blocks.
You may now run bosboot.
PowerPath boot remains enabled for the next system boot.
root @ test_lpar / # set -o vi
root @ test_lpar / # mksysb -i /mnt/test_20130815.mksysb

MKSYSB the mksysb-20,130,815 One error occurred: the Command: running stdout: yes stderr: NO . The Before the Command Completion, Additional Instructions May appear below 0042-001 the NIM: Processing error encountered ON " master ": 0042-302 m_bos_inst: the state of" test_lpar "prevents this operation from succeeding. Use the" reset "operation to correct its state then retry the intended operation.
The reason of that is the process is managed by original one, then try to reset it, it will be okay:
Solution:
Smit nim -à Perform NIM administration Tasks à Manage machine -à Perform Operations on Mechines -à
Choose test_lpar (Target hostname ) à reset à ( below two field choose Yes ):
Reset the NIM State of a Machine
Type or select values in entry fields.
Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.

(removes all root data for
diskless / dataless clients)

8: Then create the agent (test_lpar) bost inst:

9: Restore the OS from networking : ( This is important )
